Shortfill e-liquids are larger bottles of e-liquid which contain zero nicotine. These larger bottles come with extra space in the bottle to allow you to add a nicotine booster, also called nicotine shots to your liquid to allow you to achieve your desired strength.
Most commonly, shortfill e-liquids come in 50ml or 100ml, with 50ml of liquid being supplied in a 60ml bottle or 100ml of liquid being supplied in a 120ml bottle. Some brands will supply bottles with an extra 10ml of space should you want to add more nicotine shots compared to the average.
Shortfill e-liquids normally come in a high VG ratio. As high VG is designed for use with sub-ohm devices which produce a lot of vapour, most users opt for either 0mg, 3mg or 6mg of nicotine.
Firstly, you do NOT need nicotine. Shortfill e-liquids are perfectly fine to be used as they are with no nicotine.
However, calculating how many nicotine shots you need is very simple. For every 50ml of liquid, 1x 18mg nicotine shot will make the liquid 3mg in total. So, for a 100ml bottle of liquid, add 2x nicotine shots to achieve 3mg. Use the below guide to help:
50ml of shortfill e-liquid:
1x 18mg nicotine shot = 3mg
2x 18mg nicotine shots = 6mg
100ml of shortfill e-liquid:
1x 18mg nicotine shot = 1.5mg
2x 18mg nicotine shots = 3mg
3x 18mg nicotine shots = 4.5mg
4x 18mg nicotine shots = 6mg
Start by unscrewing the cap off of your shortfill bottle. You will then need to remove the nozzle of the bottle. Once you have done that, go ahead and poor your nicotine shot(s) into the bottle. Pop the nozzle and cap back on, and make sure to give the bottle a really good shake to mix in all that nicotine. Allow for the bottle to sit and for the air bubbles to disappear before using.
