What Are Nic Salts?

Nic salts are a type of vape liquid produced in 10ml bottles. They are available in different strengths, generally 5mg, 10mg and 20mg and are available in a variety of flavours. Popular nic salts brands are Steam Saltz, Six Licks Salts, Riot Squad Salts, Fantasai Ice Salts, Slushie Salts, Billionaire Juice Salts and True Salts.

How do Nic Salts work?

The nicotine element in a nic salt is different from normal 10ml e-liquid. The nicotine found in normal e-liquid is called freebase nicotine. E-liquid containing freebase nicotine will produce a different throat hit (or kick) dependent upon the strength of the nicotine in the bottle. So an 18mg strength e-liquid made from freebase nicotine will produce a bigger throat hit than a 12mg, 6mg or 3mg liquid. The higher the nicotine level the greater the throat hit.

Nic Salts are made with a different type of nicotine, not freebase. The type of nicotine in a nic salt has a different PH level to freebase nicotine and because of this it produces a smoother vape. This allows the user to vape a high level of nicotine without a harsh throat hit.

Nic salts are perfect for people who are trying to stop smoking or for those who currently use a vape device but find they still occasionally light up a cigarette. The make up of nic salts allow the user use a higher level nicotine e-liquid without a harsh throat hit. For example a 20mg nic salt e-liquid will feel like a 10mg freebase e-liquid, a 10mg will feel like a 5mg.

Are Nic Salts suitable for me?

Nic salts have become very popular over the last few years. In short they are suitable for all vapers. If you are trying to stop smoking cigarettes, then using a high level nic salt, like a 20mg, will help fight your cravings and keep you from reaching for a packet of cigarettes. Everybody has different tolerances of e-liquid strengths. For example a 20 a day smoker will need a high level nicotine e-liquid to feel satisfied and keep off the cigarettes. If you find an 18mg freebase nicotine e-liquid too harsh, you could try a lower strength. However, you may find you are vaping a lot more as the nicotine level maybe too low for you. Nic salts are the perfect solution to this problem simply because they are much smoother than an e-liquid made with freebase nicotine.

If you find that your e-liquid is too harsh, try a nic salt in the same strength. This should be a lot smoother. Its all about trial and error. What type of vape devices works best with Nic Salts?

There are a variety of vape kits which work very well with nicotine salts, producing decent flavour and good vape production.

There are several refillable pod kits which a lot of our customers use with nic salts. The Vaporesso Xros is very popular, as is the UWELL Caliburn. These are simple to use devices, no tanks and no coils to change. The coil is built into the pod itself so when it’s time to change you simply discard the old pod and fill up a new one.

VooPoo also do a couple kits called Drag S and Drag X. These are pod kits, however a little more advanced. The power can be changed as can the airflow, allowing the user to have a tighter draw or open the airflow up for a more “airy” draw. There is a large selection of coils available for the Drag kits. The coils are PnP coils by VooPoo and come in various different resistances. The VooPoo PNP coils are available in 0.15, 0.2, 0.3, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 ohm. All are suitable with nicotine salts, however, we find the 0.3, 0.6 or 0.8 Voopoo PNP coils are more suited towards nicotine salt e-liquids.

The VooPoo Argus Air is also a good vaping device for nicotine salts. It’s smaller than the Drag S & Drag X, but it takes the same VooPoo PnP coils. It is worth mentioning that the lowest compatible resistance coil for this device is 0.6ohm. It has two different airflows which are changed by simply turning the pod around in the device. All round a very simple and easy to use device which is small and compact.

What flavours are available in Nic Salts?

Nic Salts are available in a huge range of flavours. Steam Saltz offer 14 flavours in 10mg and 20mg. The most popular flavours are berry Crush, Strawberry and Kiwi, British (tobacco flavour), Black Ice, Gold and Razzygum.
