Should I Use Nic Salts E-Liquids?

Should I Use Nic Salts E-Liquids?

The number one question we get asked is should I use nic salts and what are they?

In a short summary, nic salts are made with a different type of nicotine, not freebase. The type of nicotine in a nic salt has a different PH level to freebase nicotine and because of this it produces a smoother vape. This allows the user to vape a high level of nicotine without a harsh throat hit.

Should you use them? Well, many users find that they have a better overall experience with nic salt e-liquids compared to freebase. Mainly because of the smoothness and quicker nicotine delivery, giving you a more authentic ‘nic rush’. There is no harm in trying nic salts to see how you get on with them!

When It Makes Sense To Try Nicotine Salts

The number one reason we recommend nicotine salts over freebase is when a user complains of the harsh kick on the back of the throat when using freebase nicotine. You might need a higher strength of nicotine to help fight your cravings, although you might not be comfortable with the harsh sensation.

This is when nic salts come into play! Since they are much smoother on the throat, they allow you to use a higher strength without the harsh kick.

PROS & CONS Of Nic Salts

Like with everything, you may come across some pros and cons. Let’s take a look at some of the main advantages and disadvantages.

PROS

  1. Reduced throat irritation – Nic salts are much smoother on the throat compared to freebase nicotine
  2. Quicker nicotine delivery – Nic salts are able to get the nicotine into your system quicker than freebase
  3. Longer lasting – Most users will use less e-liquid when using nic salts because they offer a faster nicotine hit, leaving users feeling satisfied quicker although this does come down to each individual
  4. Stronger flavours – Typically, nic salt ranges of e-liquids have much stronger and sweeter flavours compared to freebase

CONS

  1. Taking in too much nicotine – For users who prefer a strong throat hit, this can be a problem as they will be chasing that strong hit, meaning they will vape too much and intake a lot more nicotine than is actually needed
  2. Not suitable for sub-ohm vaping – Nic salts are typically available in 10mg & 20mg. This strength is too high to be used with powerful sub-ohm devices
