When it comes to convenience, disposable vapes have been the best option for many users. They have also been handy for those looking to try out vaping without the commitment and to test new flavours. However, disposables are being banned from 1st June 2025.
But why are they being banned and what are the alternatives available?
Disposable vapes, also known as single-use vapes are normally fitted with a lithium-ion battery which is not rechargeable (hence the name disposable). This is extremely damaging to the environment as for every tonne of lithium mined produces 15x the amount in CO2 emissions.
The second issue revolving lithium-ion batteries are that they are not being recycled correctly. The vast majority of disposable vapes are being placed into general waste or littered, which creates a public safety risk due to fire.
One of the other main reasons disposable vapes are being banned is to prevent underage users from taking up vaping as disposable devices are the product of choice for them.
There are plenty of alternatives to disposables which will give you the same result and satisfaction. What is even better is that these options available are a lot more cost effective, better for the environment when compared to disposables, and your choice of flavour & strength is greatly increased.
The most common type of device to switch to from disposables are what we call Pod-System devices. These are small devices which have a refillable pod on the top which can be used on average 7-14 days before needing the be replaced. The battery is rechargeable and will typically last longer than a disposable on a full charge.
Pod kits are very easy to use as they are normally made to be simple. Most of them work on inhale activation (the same as disposables) although many will include a few extra features such as a power button and a few settings to adjust should you want to adjust how much vapour is being produced.
Some of the most popular pod-system devices include:
E-liquids are something disposable users never have to think about as disposable vapes come pre-filled with e-liquid. When using a refillable device, you will need to buy bottles of e-liquid to go with it.
There are thousands and thousands to choose from with a wide range of strengths and endless flavours available.
The type of e-liquid found in disposable vapes is nicotine salt. In simple terms, nicotine salt provides a quicker nicotine delivery and smoother sensation on the throat. Luckily, you can purchase nicotine salt in 10ml bottles of e-liquid to use in a refillable device. View our full range of nicotine salt e-liquids.
We stock a brand called Bar Salts which replicates some of the most popular disposable vape flavours. This would be a great starting point as you transition from disposables to refillable. Bar Salts e-liquids have over 35 flavours available in 3 different strengths (5mg, 10mg, 20mg). Some of the most popular flavours include:
